Lasher navigated a competitive field that included notable figures such as anti-Trump attorney George Conway, Kennedy family descendant Jack Schlossberg, and fellow New York State Assemblyman Alex Bores.

The contest garnered significant attention due to the rarity of an open-seat race in a Manhattan district that Nadler, a prominent Democrat, has represented since 1992. The primary showcased a diverse array of candidates, blending local political experience with national recognition.
