Hasan Piker Mocks Charlie Kirk with Viral Meme Song on Live Tour
Far-left streamer Hasan Piker recently led a crowd in singing a mocking rendition of the AI-generated meme song “We Are Charlie Kirk” during a live performance of his podcast, “Fear&”. The incident, which occurred over the weekend at a stop on the show’s West Coast tour, quickly ignited a firestorm of online reactions.
A Viral Moment on Stage
Video footage from the live show, reportedly filmed in San Francisco, shows Piker at the forefront, with his co-hosts visible beside him, as he belts out the lyrics: “We are Charlie Kirk, we carry the flame. We’ll fight for the Gospel, we’ll honor his name.” The crowd appeared to respond with enthusiastic cheers. At one point, Piker himself can be heard remarking that the experience was one of the most surreal of his life.
The song, which gained traction online, is characterized as an AI-generated Christian power ballad. Its lyrics, such as “He spoke the truth when the cost was high / He lived for Jesus, unafraid to die,” were originally intended to honor Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA. However, the song has been widely adopted as a meme to satirize Kirk and conservative figures.
Piker, a prominent and often controversial figure known for his hard-left political commentary and large Twitch following, has become a lightning rod for debate. His performance of the mocking song drew sharp criticism from conservative circles.
Reactions and Accusations
Andrew Kolvet, a spokesperson for Turning Point USA, expressed strong disapproval on the social media platform X, stating, “Hasan Piker is engaging in pure, unadulterated evil.” He further quoted Proverbs 17:5: “Whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished.”
Chuck Ross, an investigative reporter for the Washington Free Beacon, labeled Piker a “trash human being.” Ross recalled that Piker was scheduled to debate Charlie Kirk shortly after Kirk’s assassination in Utah. He noted that Piker had previously expressed being shaken by the shooting, adding, “Now, he’s mocking it all for the pleasure of his loser fans.”
Other online reactions echoed this sentiment. One widely shared comment described Piker’s actions as “absolutely disgusting.”
Following the show, Piker seemingly alluded to the event on social media. He posted a picture from the performance with the caption, “carried the flame tn,” referencing the lyric “We carry the flame” from the song.
In response to the backlash, Piker also shared a post that targeted his critics. This reposted message argued, “The same conservatives crying over Hasan singing a meme song were openly celebrating the murder of American citizens. These people don’t care about anything.”
Charlie Kirk’s Legacy and Influence
Charlie Kirk, who founded the conservative organization Turning Point USA as a teenager, was a notable figure in Republican politics. He gained recognition for his often viral debates on college campuses and became a close ally of former President Donald Trump, playing a role in his 2024 re-election campaign. Kirk had also previously engaged in a debate with Piker concerning socialism.
Piker’s Growing Political Footprint
Hasan Piker’s influence within the Democratic Party has been a significant media talking point, particularly as democratic socialist candidates have gained prominence in recent election cycles. Piker has appeared alongside several well-known political figures, including Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan.
The controversy surrounding Piker’s live performance highlights the deep divisions and intense rhetoric often present in contemporary political discourse, particularly online.
