Simon Cowell, the sharp-tongued judge known for his role on “America’s Got Talent,” is set to temporarily step away from the judging panel. He will be absent from filming for several weeks as he undergoes a medical procedure to address ongoing back issues stemming from previous injuries. The production team is currently arranging for guest judges to fill his seat during this period.

Sources indicate that the upcoming procedure is a routine matter, directly related to Cowell’s well-documented history of back problems rather than a new or critical health development. This isn’t the first time Cowell’s back has caused him trouble; his struggles began after a significant electric bike accident in 2020.

A History of Back Woes

The 2020 incident was a close call for the television personality. “When I saw the X-ray, I really nearly smashed my spine to pieces, so I literally wouldn’t (have) been able to walk,” Cowell recounted in an interview about six months after the accident. He has openly shared that the moment he fell from the bike, he knew he had broken his back. The experience was surreal, as he described lying on the floor, feeling himself passing out, and having to be helped into his bedroom.

Adding to his physical challenges, Cowell was involved in another e-bike incident in 2022. Reports from that time confirmed he sustained a broken arm after crashing to the ground.
