Slotkin, Rosen Condemn Livestreamer Hasan Piker Over Anti-Israel Remarks

U.S. Senators Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) and Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) have strongly rebuked popular livestreamer Hasan Piker for comments suggesting that Jewish Americans could face repercussions due to their support for Israel. Slotkin Denounces Piker’s ‘Victim-Blaming’

Senator Slotkin, often discussed as a potential future presidential candidate, addressed Piker’s statements directly, calling them unacceptable. She emphasized that no community should be subjected to threats of violence based on their political stances, regardless of the specific issue.

“This shouldn’t be hard: no community should face the threat [of] violence for their political views. Period,” Slotkin stated in a social media post. “That goes if you’re pro-Israel, pro-Palestine, pro-choice, pro-life or any other cause you care about. And blaming the victims of violence for bringing it on themselves only further endangers people.”

Slotkin linked Piker’s comments to a broader trend of normalizing political violence and antisemitism. She highlighted a recent antisemitic attack at Temple Israel in Michigan, which occurred just six months prior, as a stark reminder of the dangers of such rhetoric.

“In a time where political violence and anti-semitism has been spiking — and where just 6 months ago Michigan had a nearly deadly event of anti-semitic mass violence at Temple Israel — no one should causally be suggesting that anyone, Jews or otherwise, are to blame for being targeted,” Slotkin concluded, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

Rosen Calls Remarks a ‘New Low’

“Hasan Piker has been trafficking in antisemitic tropes for a while but even this is a new low,” Rosen posted on the social media platform X. “Blaming Jewish Americans for the violence and hate they’re facing is not just wrong, it provides an excuse to those perpetuating these anti-Jewish hate crimes. Let me be absolutely clear: crimes against Jews for being Jews is antisemitism plain and simple. There’s no excuse for it.”

Rosen stressed that attributing blame to Jewish individuals for the violence directed at them is not only factually incorrect but also serves to embolden those who perpetrate hate crimes. She firmly stated that any violence targeting Jews because they are Jewish constitutes antisemitism, leaving no room for justification.
