Ms. Rachel Confronted Over ‘Genocide’ Accusation Against Israel

Children’s educator Rachel Griffin Accurso, widely known as Ms. Rachel, was recently confronted in a park regarding her public statements about Israel’s conflict with Hamas. He reportedly asked her directly why she held anti-Israel sentiments. According to Lichtschein’s account, Accurso clarified that her stance was not against Israel as a nation but specifically against the current Israeli government and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

This distinction, however, was not enough for Lichtschein. He pushed back, calling her position “absurd.” He argued that opposing the democratically elected leader of a sovereign nation, like Netanyahu, is fundamentally different from being anti-Israel itself. Lichtschein suggested that Accurso’s views extended beyond a critique of the Prime Minister.

During the conversation, Accurso reportedly accused Israel of committing “genocide” in its ongoing war with Hamas. Lichtschein quoted her as saying, “Twenty thousand children have died. How is that not a genocide?”

Lichtschein stated that he attempted to explain to Accurso that while war is horrific and the current conflict was initiated by Hamas, the term “genocide” carries a specific and grave accusation. He expressed concern that such language, when directed at the state of Israel and the Jewish people, could incite hostility and violence against Jews globally. He elaborated that while one might personally identify as a Zionist and not intend their rhetoric to foster animosity towards Jews or Zionists, the sheer size of one’s audience necessitates careful consideration. “When you have an enormous platform, you have to think seriously about what happens downstream from the things that she says,” Lichtschein stated.

Lichtschein reiterated that he does not believe Accurso harbors hatred towards Jewish people and that her advocacy is likely rooted in sincere empathy for children.
