Border Czar Details Gruesome Migrant Deaths, Defends Trump Policies
Border Czar Decries Critics, Shares Harrowing Personal Accounts
Tom Homan, a leading figure in border enforcement, forcefully responded to criticism of the current administration’s immigration policies on Friday. He detailed disturbing scenes from his extensive career, including migrants who perished in extreme heat, to underscore his argument that secure borders are essential for saving lives.
Speaking at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., Homan aimed to counter accusations that the administration’s approach is inhumane. Instead, he contended that stricter border enforcement deters individuals from undertaking perilous journeys often orchestrated by criminal cartels.
Outrage Over Media Portrayals
Homan expressed his frustration with what he described as misleading media coverage that has characterized President Trump’s immigration initiatives as cruel. “There’s nothing further from the truth,” he asserted to the assembled audience.
He argued that the opposite is true: lax border enforcement creates vulnerabilities that lead to migrants being exploited, harmed, or killed by smugglers and cartels. “What President Trump is doing is saving lives,” Homan stated.
A Grim Scene Witnessed Firsthand
Homan then recounted one of the most harrowing incidents he personally encountered during his time in border enforcement. “I’ve stood in the back of a tractor-trailer with 19 dead people at my feet,” he told attendees at the Washington Hilton. He described the victims, including a young boy, found in their undergarments, attempting to find relief from the oppressive heat inside the sealed vehicle.
“They all baked to death,” Homan stated grimly. “I got to that crime scene. They’re all in underwear, trying to get some relief from the 170 degree heat in the back of a steel truck with no air. Think of the way these people died.”
Stories of Exploitation and Abuse
The border czar also shared accounts of young girls subjected to severe abuse during their journey to the U.S. border. “I’ve gotten on my knees to talk to little girls as young as 9 that were raped multiple times by members of a cartel,” he revealed. “That’s what happens when you have an unsecured border,” he added, contrasting it with the current situation. “Well, guess what? There’s no little 9-year-old girl right now that everybody’s getting on their knees and talking to. President Trump has closed the border down.”
Defending Administration’s Stance
Homan consistently defended the administration’s actions, proclaiming that the president has achieved the “most secure border in the history of this nation.” He emphasized that the immigration crackdown is intended to prevent further deaths, trafficking, and exploitation by criminal organizations.
“Secure borders save lives,” Homan concluded his remarks. “Secure borders protect our national security. No one’s done it better than President Trump. And we ain’t finished yet.”
These statements come amid ongoing criticism from various groups regarding the administration’s deportation efforts, intensified immigration enforcement, and attempts to overturn previous border policies. Homan, however, framed these measures as a moral imperative, asserting that the administration is enhancing national safety while diminishing the incentives for migrants to place themselves in the hands of dangerous cartels.
