Skattebo Vows Aggressive Return After Gruesome Ankle Injury

Running Back Cam Skattebo Rejects Style Change Post-Injury

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo, entering his second NFL season, has no intention of altering his aggressive playing style despite suffering a severe ankle injury that prematurely ended his rookie campaign. Skattebo confirmed his commitment to his hard-hitting approach, emphasizing his determination to return to form.

“It ain’t gonna change who I am,” Skattebo stated during a recent interview on NFL Network’s “The Insiders.” “I had an injury, it is what it is. I still got plenty of football left, plenty of life left. I’m not going to let this little ankle thing bother me.”

He further elaborated on his mindset, declaring, “I’m gonna get back (to) running people over. It’s going to be normal Cam Skattebo from here on out.”

Skattebo’s Impact in Rookie Season

Skattebo’s “smashmouth” style quickly endeared him to Giants fans during the 2025 season. Alongside quarterback Jaxson Dart’s development, Skattebo emerged as a significant offensive bright spot for the team. In eight games before his injury, he accumulated 410 rushing yards and scored five touchdowns. He also contributed significantly in the passing game, with 24 receptions for 207 yards and two receiving touchdowns.

While sidelined, Skattebo drew some attention for an appearance during an episode of “Monday Night Raw,” where he was involved in an incident with WWE star JD McDonagh.

Looking Ahead to 2026 Season

With his recovery progressing, Skattebo is expected to be a key contributor on the field for the Giants in the upcoming 2026 season. The team aims to leverage his powerful running and physical presence as they strive to contend for a playoff spot.
