Marine Veteran Officer Fatally Shot Responding to Armed Suspect in Las Vegas

A Las Vegas police officer, a decorated Marine veteran, tragically lost his life Tuesday evening while responding to a volatile situation involving an armed individual. The suspect was also killed during the confrontation. The incident unfolded shortly before 4 p.m. in the vicinity of East Tropicana Avenue and Mountain Vista Street.

Tragic Encounter on Tropicana Avenue

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a distress call reporting a person brandishing a firearm and exhibiting signs of intoxication near a business in the 4500 block of East Tropicana Avenue. In response, officers and police drones were dispatched to the location. Upon arriving in the area, law enforcement officers located the armed suspect near the Interstate 11 underpass, close to Mountain Vista Street.
