A shooting incident early Saturday morning in Hanover, Maryland, resulted in injuries to six individuals, two of whom are children. The Anne Arundel County Police Department confirmed the details, stating that officers were initially dispatched to the scene around 4:40 a.m. following reports of an “unknown disturbance.” Upon arrival, authorities encountered a large crowd that was rapidly dispersing and found one man with a gunshot wound to his torso. This individual was transported to a local hospital, and his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
The extent of the violence became clearer as the morning progressed. Detectives were subsequently informed by three separate area hospitals that several individuals had arrived as walk-in patients seeking treatment for gunshot wounds. These additional victims included a woman with an injury to an extremity, two young boys with lower extremity wounds, and another man and woman, both of whom sustained injuries to their lower extremities.
Officials have stated that all six victims are currently receiving medical care for injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Detectives are actively engaged in interviewing the wounded to piece together the sequence of events that led to the shooting. The police department indicated that the investigation is ongoing and further information will be released upon its conclusion.
As of Saturday afternoon, there has been no official confirmation regarding any arrests in connection with the incident. Hanover is situated approximately 15 miles south of Baltimore and about 30 miles northeast of Washington, D.C.
