Tina Descovich, a co-founder of Moms for Liberty, has voiced strong criticism of Dr. Anthony Fauci following his invocation of the Fifth Amendment during a congressional hearing. Descovich stated that millions of parents are still seeking answers regarding the pandemic-era decisions on school closures and masking, and the long-term impact these policies allegedly had on their children.

Parents Still Grappling with Pandemic’s Aftermath

In an exclusive interview, Descovich, who also serves as CEO of Moms for Liberty, articulated the ongoing struggles families face due to the lingering effects of pandemic-era policies. These challenges include significant learning loss, increased mental health issues among children, and the prolonged disruption of in-person schooling. “The things our children have suffered with the lack of education, with the forced masking, with children in some places being forced to take vaccinations so that they could go to school, the things that they have endured, what our families have been through, America deserves an apology,” Descovich stated.

She emphasized that the consequences of these decisions are still being felt by children today. Descovich pointed to instances where schools remained closed for extended periods, with some districts in places like California and Chicago shutting their doors for up to two years. This extended closure, she argued, contributed to severe mental health ramifications for students.

Congressional Scrutiny of Pandemic Decisions

Descovich urged Congress to continue its investigations into the decision-making processes and the individuals responsible for keeping schools shuttered during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Anthony Fauci recently appeared before the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee to answer questions from Republican lawmakers, including Senator Rand Paul, regarding his role in the pandemic response.

Reports indicate that Senator Paul intends to pursue civil contempt proceedings against Fauci. This action follows Fauci’s repeated invocation of the Fifth Amendment, reportedly more than 100 times, during the hearing when questioned by committee members. At one point, the committee’s chairman, Senator Paul, had an attorney for Fauci removed from the proceedings after the lawyer attempted to speak without being recognized.

Diary Entries Spark Further Questions

The situation has been further complicated by the recent release of Dr. Fauci’s COVID-era diary entries. These documents, brought to light by Senator Paul, reportedly offer new insights into Fauci’s perspectives on the origins of COVID-19 and his management of the pandemic. According to Paul, the diary entries reveal a stark contrast between Fauci’s public statements and his private thoughts.

Senator Paul commented on the diary entries, suggesting they show Fauci’s enjoyment of positive media attention while simultaneously discrediting those who questioned his approach. “Later in the pandemic, he gloried in the positive attention he was receiving from legacy media and demonized those who questioned his official narrative — like me,” Paul stated, referencing past contentious exchanges with Fauci during congressional hearings. Paul further asserted that many entries in Fauci’s personal account significantly challenge the official narrative promoted by Fauci and other public health officials.

A Call for Accountability and Future Reforms

When asked what she would say directly to Dr. Fauci, Descovich expressed a desire for understanding and accountability. “Why did you do this to our children?” she posed. “Why did you do this to our families, and how are you going to be held accountable now?”

Descovich’s ultimate hope is that reforms will be enacted to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future. She stressed the importance of elected officials holding themselves accountable and respecting the boundaries of their authority. “Our elected leaders in America need to hold themselves accountable, and they need to stay in their lane,” Descovich asserted.

She elaborated on the founding of Moms for Liberty in 2021, explaining it arose from concerns about government overreach into family matters. The organization was established in response to governmental decisions that affected children’s education, including mandatory masking and vaccination policies for school attendance. Descovich noted that the group’s rapid growth was fueled by the strong reactions of parents who felt their fundamental right to direct their children’s upbringing was being infringed upon. “Parents have the fundamental right to direct the upbringing of their children,” she continued. “Moms for Liberty was born in 2021 because government was overreaching into our families, making decisions on behalf of our children, throwing them out of school, forcing masks on them, forcing them to vaccinate, and it shot Moms for Liberty into the stratosphere immediately because parents were very upset, and our government should have learned a very good lesson in 2020, 2021, don’t mess with American moms.”
