A 25-year-old New Jersey woman faces serious charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13, recording the act, and sharing at least one video of the incident on Snapchat. Victoria Anne Cranmer was taken into custody on Tuesday, authorities confirmed.
Charges Filed Against Cranmer
The charges against Cranmer include second-degree sexual assault, second-degree manufacturing of child sexual abuse material, third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. These accusations stem from an incident allegedly occurring on May 6 within the confines of a Little Egg Harbor home’s bathroom, while the child was reportedly under Cranmer’s care.
Investigation Uncovers Disturbing Evidence
The investigation into the allegations gained momentum on May 20 when the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency brought the matter to the attention of the Little Egg Harbor Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. Detectives subsequently secured search warrants for a cellphone believed to have been used by Cranmer and her Snapchat account.
During their digital investigation, authorities reportedly discovered additional videos saved within Snapchat’s ‘Memories’ feature. The affidavit of probable cause details how investigators identified Cranmer in the 14-second recording, noting several distinctive tattoos, including one on her leg that depicted breasts.
Former Roommate’s Role in Discovery
According to court documents, the cellphone in question had been a birthday gift to Cranmer from a former roommate. After asking Cranmer to vacate the premises, the roommate requested the return of the phone. While reviewing its contents, the roommate allegedly stumbled upon the disturbing recording. The roommate reportedly saved the video and subsequently handed the device over to law enforcement, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.
Allegations of Laughter During Assault
Further details emerging from the court documents suggest a deeply disturbing aspect of the alleged assault. Investigators reportedly allege that Cranmer was heard laughing during the recording of the incident. At least one of the videos documenting the alleged abuse was purportedly shared on the social media platform Snapchat.
