“It looked like, from what we’re gathering with my detectives, two males get into a verbal altercation at self-checkout,” Chief Sousa explained. “One of the males brandishes a firearm, fires a round indiscriminately and hits one of the female Walmart employees in the leg — not the subject he was arguing with.”

The unintended victim, a female Walmart employee, was struck in the leg by the gunfire. She was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment. As of the initial reports, Chief Sousa had not provided an update on her specific condition.
