Trump Vows ‘Decimation’ of Iran Over Assassination Threats

President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Iran, vowing to “decimate and destroy” the nation if it attempts to assassinate him. The forceful declaration came via a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Friday. Trump stated that the U.S. military is on high alert, with “1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow.” This readiness is contingent upon the Iranian government acting on what Trump described as global pronouncements to assassinate the sitting U.S. President.

Military Preparedness and Retaliation Orders

Trump revealed that he has already issued directives to the U.S. military, ensuring they are prepared to retaliate swiftly and decisively should Iran proceed with any assassination plot. He elaborated on these orders, stating, “Orders have already been given, and the U.S. Military is ready, willing, and able, for a one year period of time, subject to extension, to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran.” He concluded this statement with a religious invocation, “PRAISE BE TO ALLAH!”

Intelligence Reports and Previous Statements

These pronouncements follow a report by The Wall Street Journal, which indicated that Israeli intelligence had recently shared information with U.S. officials. This intelligence suggested that Iran was contemplating a new plot to assassinate President Trump. Earlier in the week, during a NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, Trump himself had commented on his status as a target, telling reporters, “I’m No. 1 on the kill list for Iran.”

Further underscoring his resolve, Trump had also spoken with the New York Post earlier on Friday. In that conversation, he disclosed that he had left standing instructions for a massive retaliatory strike against Iran if an assassination attempt against him were to succeed. “I’ve been on their list for a long time. That’s what we’re dealing with,” Trump stated, adding, “The only thing is, I’ve left instructions — if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before.”

However, when directly asked about the reports of a new Iranian assassination plot uncovered by Israeli intelligence, Trump appeared to dismiss them. “No, no, Israel came up with nothing,” he told the newspaper. “I’ve been No. 1 [on Iran’s kill list] for a long time, and it’s the way life is, you know.”

Security Precautions and Historical Context

The heightened tensions and perceived threats have also led to security considerations regarding presidential travel. According to The New York Times, following Trump’s trip to Turkey, the U.S. Secret Service reportedly recommended that he travel aboard the older Air Force One instead of the newly retrofitted Boeing 747. This suggestion was made as a security precaution amid the renewed hostilities with Iran. While the White House did not explicitly link the aircraft change to specific security concerns, it was noted that the new Air Force One is equipped with advanced security features.

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung had previously commented on the general security posture, stating, “The new Air Force One is a state-of-the-art aircraft that has been fitted with high-level security protocols that ensure the safety of the President and his staff.” He added, “As the President has said recently, there are many enemies of America who have their sights on him, and we use every tool at our disposal to address those threats.”

The animosity between the United States and Iran, particularly concerning Trump, has a significant history. Iran has reportedly sought Trump’s assassination since he authorized the 2020 military strike that resulted in the death of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani. Adding to the charged atmosphere, mourners at the funeral for Iran’s former supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were reported to have repeatedly called for Trump’s death.

Unraveling Ceasefire and Recent Military Actions

These warnings and security discussions are occurring against the backdrop of a deteriorating ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran. Recent days have seen Iran attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting renewed U.S. military responses. These actions have included a new series of strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure associated with maritime operations and other military sites. In response to these developments, Trump has declared the ceasefire “over” and has cautioned of further actions if Iran persists with its attacks.

The White House and the U.S. Secret Service have been contacted for comment on the unfolding situation.
