Trump Jr. Cites Court Evidence in Charlie Kirk Murder Case
Donald Trump Jr. stated Thursday that newly unsealed evidence from the preliminary hearing in the murder case of Charlie Kirk has effectively silenced lingering conspiracy theories surrounding the event. Trump Jr., a close friend of Kirk, attended the proceedings in Provo, Utah, this week, observing the arguments and reviewing the evidence presented against the accused assailant, Tyler Robinson.
Evidence Presented in Court
“Based on everything that I saw in that courtroom, it’s very clear to me that Tyler Robinson did this,” Trump Jr. remarked during an appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime.” He elaborated that the evidence made the situation “very cut-and-dry at this point.”
Robinson, 23, faces charges for allegedly shooting Kirk, 31, to death at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. The prosecution is working to establish probable cause to advance the case to a full trial, where Robinson could potentially face the death penalty if convicted.
During the preliminary hearing, which commenced Monday, prosecutors presented testimony suggesting Robinson admitted to the killing in text messages sent to his roommate shortly after the incident. According to the testimony, Robinson stated he “had enough of his hatred.”
Trump Jr.’s Perspective on the Evidence
Trump Jr. highlighted the significance of the DNA evidence and Robinson’s subsequent surrender to authorities. “The DNA evidence, the fact that… he turned himself in… to me, it puts so much of this at rest,” he explained. He believes this evidence strongly points to Robinson’s sole responsibility for the crime, dispelling notions of broader conspiracies.
While acknowledging the existence of skepticism, Trump Jr. suggested that the unsealed evidence has significantly shifted public perception. He characterized the situation as previously being a “50–50” issue regarding belief in specific narratives, but now sees it as “90–10,” with the majority convinced of Robinson’s guilt.
Questions Regarding Security
Beyond the direct evidence against Robinson, Trump Jr. raised concerns about the security measures in place at the event where Kirk was killed. As a frequent speaker at Turning Point USA events, he noted that such gatherings typically have a more substantial law enforcement presence, especially given they often attract thousands of attendees.
“The biggest question in my mind at this point is not whether Tyler Robinson did this, or if it was some people from a foreign land, or another planet — it was, why were there only six police officers active at a major event on a university campus?” Trump Jr. questioned. He described these events as significant undertakings that usually warrant a comprehensive security operation to prevent potential incidents.
The lack of what he considered adequate security at a large-scale university event struck him as particularly alarming. “These are big events,” he stated. “I’ve done 100 of them with Charlie Kirk on college campuses all over the place… That there wasn’t an all-hands-on-deck kind of operation to prevent this very thing from happening is truly scary.”
Ongoing Legal Proceedings
Prosecutors are expected to continue presenting evidence as the hearing progresses. A trial date has not yet been established in the case against Tyler Robinson.
The preliminary hearing aims to determine if sufficient evidence exists to proceed with a trial for the charges Robinson faces, including murder. The details emerging from the court, particularly the alleged text messages and DNA findings, are central to the prosecution’s case.
Trump Jr.’s comments underscore the impact that courtroom evidence can have on public understanding of complex cases, particularly those that attract widespread attention and speculation. As the legal process unfolds, further details are anticipated to emerge, potentially clarifying the circumstances surrounding Charlie Kirk’s death.
