U.S. Consulate in Toronto Shot At Again, Second Attack This Year
The U.S. Consulate in Toronto was the target of gunfire on Monday, marking the second such incident at the building this year. Authorities confirmed that a single shell casing was recovered from the scene, and the building’s facade sustained damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the attack.
In response to the incident, the consulate issued a statement indicating that operations and routine services for U.S. citizens would continue, though some appointments in Toronto were being rescheduled. The statement read, “The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Canada are open and operating normally, though some routine U.S. citizen services in Toronto are being rescheduled.”
Investigation Underway After Consulate Shooting
Following the shooting, a high-speed chase involving the perpetrators reportedly lasted for an hour, according to Toronto Deputy Police Chief Frank Barredo. Despite extensive efforts, no arrests have been made, and police are committed to apprehending those responsible. “We will approach this investigation with great seriousness,” Barredo stated at a news conference. “We will bring the people responsible for this to justice.”
